I've been making these dolls for years and it never ceases to amaze me all the personality each and every one of them have. No two are alike, but each one is just a treasure.

Here are some of the girls drying.

Theses corn husk dolls are lovely just to have, or include them in a table setting or wire into a wreath. They are all natural, made of cornhusks and cotton string and one 'very special ingredient'...one pebble from our beach on Ostrich Bay! I use the pebble as a base to form the head!

Cornhusk dolls have been made for eons... first by Native Americans. At some point along the way the Native Americans taught us! I learned to make them in the hills of Appalachia, along with apple head dolls, oak baskets and the like. Not to let anything go to waste, we also made corncob jelly, which is a delicious jelly with a beautiful rose hue and tasting as fresh as the morning.

Here are a few of the girls made with blue husks!

Cornhusk dolls range in size from about 8" tall to 12" tall, depending on the size of the husks available at any given time.

Cornhusk Dolls and Brooms are available in Natural, Red and Blue.

Note: If you would like to order more than 10 dolls at a time, please expect to wait an extra week in case I need to make more. Please send e-mail for more information.

Special Orders! I can make however ever many you need for a special occasion. For example, one of my recent special orders was for 25 dolls used as the feature of the table centerpieces, which were surrounded by colorful flowers and ribbons. They were also used table prizes! What a great  idea.

Corn Cob Jelly

If you are able to get your hands on some red corn cobs, here is the recipe! We used to get ours from my uncle who raised acres and acres of field corn for the cows, pig and chickens on his dairy farm. They were a wonderful shade of red. You can also make this from yellow corn cobs, but the color is just not as delightful as the red.

12 corn cobs (dried are best and red, if you can get them)
1 package Sure Jell
2 quarts water
3 cups sugar
Wash and break corn cobs; place into a large pot. Add 2 quarts water and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and boil for 35 minutes.

Remove corn cobs and strain juice through jelly bag or colander.

Measure out 3 cups corn cob juice into pot; add pectin and bring to a boil. Stirring constantly, add sugar. Boil 5 minutes. Pour into sterilized jars and seal.
